I've been "self-hosting" Vista on my VAIO S-480 notebook since August 2005, and let me tell you, the first few builds were pretty rough. But the quality has been steadily increasing, and in the last few months, things that never worked, like Aero Glass and my sound drivers, are starting to come to life. I have been helping the Vista team through a number of bluescreen and other kinds of bugs, so I feel like I've been doing my bit to help ship a better product. I've had the beta2 build installed on my VAIO for about 3 weeks now, and so far, no bluescreens, no blocking bugs - basically a reasonable experience. There are some things that are better than XP (boot, shutdown, sleep times; UX / chrome; search; networking; and many others) but there are also still things that aren't as good (in general, I've found the perf to still be slower). But it's really been getting much better. Hey, even Clemens is running Vista. You should too :-)
